The Comeniusproject 2008-10: Following the famous scientists

The Comenius Project "Following the famous scientists" is now successfully completed
Our students have created multimedia presentations about Tycho Brahe and made an educational film about his life and scientific work.
The common guidebook can be accessed on the Polish webpage, the coordinating partner in our project. One of our students,

Cecilia Lindskog has made a student version. For more information about the swedish student-version please contact Ingela Nilsson, inni44@utb.lund.se.
About our Project:
The Comenius project 'Following the famous scientists' teaches our students the legacy of the chosen scientists and their contribution in today's life, science and European culture.

In our project the students will develop ICT-skills, use drama to teach the life of our scientist Tycho Brahe. The Comenius project at Gymnasieskolan Spyken involves one class (out of four) of the first year students on the Natural Science Programme, who will participate in a cross-curricular learning adventure involving English, History, Computer Science, Natural Science and Physics.
The project also includes cultural exchange programmes, where students will present the scientists using multimedia when visiting the partner schools. The final product is a guidebook, exploring the life and work of some of the famous scientists of Europe. English is used as a working language throughout the project.
Learning objectives:
- It allows the students and the teachers to improve their content-related knowledge and the competence of using IT tools.
- It makes students develop the skill of interpersonal communication in groups.
- It will motivate students to learn foreign languages and natural science.
- It will integrate young Europeans and have influence the world around them in spite of cultural and outlook differences.
- It will give them have feeling of national identity, pride of their own country and respect for other countries´ accomplishments.
- The project will promote an attitude of respect and tolerance for cultural distinctness of European youth.
We believe these activities will contribute to modernise the teaching base of the schools.
